Jacinta Giles is a visual artist who uses the medium of photography to explore the impermanent, mutable and fragmentary nature of memory. Through using unconventional photographic processes, that take their cues from how memory operates, Giles creates memory-images that speak to the affective, temporal and shared visual nature of remembrances. In challenging traditional notions of photography as a fixed slice in time, her work could be considered an archiving of memory traces and lost recollections. Giles has exhibited in galleries across Australia and in London.
